April 2019 Meeting with Lisa Ruble

Hello, Modern Quilters! At long last, the highlights from our April meeting are here! Sorry for the delay!
We had a very productive meeting.  We discussed the financial future of the guild and working on ways to continue the amazing programming (thanks, Pam!) that we have been enjoying.  Some ways may include pricing changes for the future retreats, changes in membership dues, and donations for programming.  We also discussed some great ideas for programs and projects for next year, such as another Make and Take workshop (like the Sew Together bag we did last year), Saturday Sew-ins, and Block of the Month sew-alongs! Stay tuned!

If you were not able to get your Snails Trail block done, we're extending this block lottery until the next meeting.  greatlakesmodernquiltguild.blogspot.com/2019/04/april-online-activity.html

Our next social meeting is Wednesday, 22 May at Mary's house.  For our June meeting, Christine McElhone will be teaching us how to crochet with fabric strips.  If you want to plan ahead, strips should be 1.5" wide.  The length can vary, but 10" or more works best.  There is no need to sew the strips together -- simply cut a slit approximately 1/2" long VERTICALLY at both ends of the strips (about a 1/2" from the ends) and Christine will show us how to join them together.  There are also Youtube videos that may help. You will also need a P or Q crochet hook.  More details to come later.

An email regarding the details for the Laura Heine mini quilt workshop in August will be coming soon. Sign-ups for the workshop will open 24 June.

We were so excited to have our guild member Lisa visit from Florida to teach us how to make her awesome ZuZu Squares quilt. Check out her Etsy site!
