April 2018 Retreat Summary

Hi Friends!  Our April 2018 Retreat was tons of fun!  We held it at Camp Lutherwald.  It was a small but eager and friendly group.  What a great time we had!  Below is a quick summary of what folks were working on!

Sandy finished a top from some of the blocks she won from one of our challenges!

Pam made this cool column quilt for her foreign exchange student.  She did it as a quilt-as-you-go-quilt!

Here is the back of Pam's quilt.  She took some blocks from a project she gave up on in incorporated them into the back.  I love that!

Jane got most of this beautiful bag put together.

We all admired Jane's awesome bag made from her GLMQG panel!

I thought this fish quilt Jane made was really fun!  How about that single red fish?!  Adore!

Finola came with her mom.  How awesome is this?  She was sewing away all day!  Such a sweetheart!  She's only 9 years old!

Here she is, sewing away with Mom!

Check out the amazing quilt she pieced and her mom quilted and bound for her!  Is this the sweetest photo ever?!

And Jill made this awesome monster pouch for one of her boys.

Here is Chris' beautiful finish!

I can't remember who is hiding behind this quilt.  Maybe Terri?  Pretty finish!

And awesome finish for Linda!  I think she said these blocks came from Holly.  We all commented at how that green just sets off the blue so nicely!

Diane ordered these antique fan blocks from ebay.  She appliquéd them to the burgundy fabric and assembled them.  We were all enthralled by her amazing finds from ebay!

Leslie made a wonderful, bright Tula quilt.  She'll finish this and contribute it to the Log Cabin Quilters collection for the cancer center.

Jane was practicing her free-motion quilting the entire weekend (see the stack of blocks behind her?!).   She is doing a great job learning from Christina Camelli's book.

I worked on this green row to add to my Rust quilt (pattern by Carl Hentsch).

And a huge thank you to Annie from www.byannie.com!  She helped sponsor our retreat by giving us the pattern for this adorable notebook holder and some Soft and Stable foam stabilizer to try inside.

It was a fun and cute project!  Thank you for supporting our guild and our retreat, Annie!  We are grateful!  Please visit her site and support her shop!  She has great patterns, and her stabilizer makes a great difference in bags and other projects!

Our space was small and cozy.  It was so cold and rainy out, but we loved sitting there looking at the lake and enjoying each other's company.

We had a fantastic time.  Sorry we missed some of you on this retreat!  We hope to see you at the next one in November!

Respectfully submitted,
Stephanie

Retreat-Save the Date Nov 14-16, 2014

Exciting news.  We have reserved the Kempski Retreat Center at Camp Lutherwald  for our fall retreat.  Save the weekend of Friday Nov 14 thru Sunday Nov 16, 2014 for some "modern quilting" fun.

Info about the Kempski Retreat Center:

2065 W State Rd 120 Howe, IN 46746.  Looks to be less than an hour from Kalamazoo. This tri-level adult facility has a kitchen and dining area on the upper two levels, with an adjoining front room with fireplace, provide meeting space for up to 40 people. Adjacent to the meeting spaces are public bathrooms. The Kempski Retreat Center has 12 private rooms each with bathroom/shower and 4 single beds. Linens are available on request for $6 /person per stay.

Doesn't the scene below looking inviting?!

Our new member Jane Stahl will be working on the retreat with me.  She has done a number of retreats here and the facilities sound fantastic for our group.  Plenty of table space for each person and meals are prepared for us.  She also has a massage therapist arranged for the weekend.  You will be able to reserve time with her to sooth your aching muscles after hours of quilting fun.

Details will be coming soon. Anyone else interested in helping out let me know.

See you soon at our May meeting.
