We are very sorry to inform you that we will need to reschedule the Angela Pingel workshop, originally scheduled for September 24.  Angela has an unavoidable conflict requiring her to cancel.  However, we still have the library from 9 to 4:45  that day.  So we are planning a regular meeting and then a special demo/hands on sewing.

Please stay tuned for detail. More to come soon.

August Online Activity

This month let's do a quick, simple block that will look amazing when assembled! Let's follow Twiggy and Opal's directions for a Shadow Block.

Let's take Jayne's block one step further and add a white sashing to the top and left side. At the end of her tutorial, we are left with a 5 3/4" square. Let's add a 1 1/4" strip of white to the sides that don't have the grey shadow strips, to end up with a 6 1/2" square (will be 6" finished)

Please use a bright modern "charm" (5") square for the center square, a medium-to-light grey for the "shadow" and white for the corner block and sashing.

Here are rules for submission and winning the block drawing at our September 2016 meeting

Donation Quilts for Orlando Pulse

At the social meeting on Wednesday, we agreed to try to complete a quilt or two to donate to the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild's effort to provide quilts to the families of the Orlando Pulse shooting victims. http://theorlandomodernquiltguild.blogspot.com/2016/06/donation-quilts-for-pride-orlando.html

If you can donate a block, please follow this tutorial for a 10-inch block:  http://cluckclucksew.com/2015/01/making-heart-blocks-in-multiple-sizes.html, using a rainbow-shade heart and low-volume background. Bring it to the August meeting. That will give our volunteers time to assemble the blocks into top(s), sandwich, quilt, and bind before Orlando's September due date.

If you can't attend the August meeting, please contact glmodernquilter@gmail.com to arrange a drop-off.
