March Meeting Recap

Our March meeting was great!

Huge thanks to Mark, who gave a fantastic presentation on color theory. You can download his presentation here. His quote of the day: "Be bold with color!"
Mark said he had to visit multiple quilt shops to get the full range of solids for his sample color wheel. We appreciate his selfless dedication. :)

Sharon C. was the lucky winner of the quarter log cabin blocks from our online activity. Each of the blocks you see in the picture is just one quarter of the blocks she received. Can't wait to see them assembled!

Now onto the show and tell!

Holly shared the little wonton dumpling pouch she made for lip balm.

And a fantastic finish--her improv medallion quilt from last year's Gwen Marston workshop, made using Marcia Derse fabrics. Wow!!!

She quilted it herself. Here's the back:

Pam shared her finished quilt from a recent online block activity--great layout, great curves, great quilting choices!

And the back, with the remaining blocks:

Mark shared his finished quilt from an online block activity--love the gray background and the straight line quilting!

This cool modern quilt by Jeanine is from the Vintage Quilt Revival book.

Connie was inspired by our quarter log cabin blocks, made her own, and assembled it into a quilt--love it, Connie!

Connie also shared Joanne's hedgehog pillow. We all loved this pattern already, especially with the appliqued glasses! Joanne is giving it to her granddaughter before our next meeting so asked Connie to share it since she couldn't be at this meeting.

The perfect show and tell for a day on color theory, Jackie shared her rainbow of hexagons made from Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Yum!

She also shared this brightly colored beauty:

Jane shared the skinniest quilt of the day, this fun and whimsical flamingo, a gift in the making.

Lisa shared her tulip wallhanging. You can find the free tutorial for it here.

Jill shared one finished medallion from her EPP millefiori project--wow!

And here's the back side:

Two Dr. Who pillows:

And her version of the zipper pouch that Stephanie has also made--tons of zippers and fun fabrics!

See you all at the May meeting!

p.s. Mark your calendars! Please come to the Log Cabin Quilters meeting on April 21--some of us will be doing a presentation on modern quilting and we'd love to see you there! And leave a comment if you have a modern quilt/project you'd be willing to let us show during the presentation! (If you signed up on the list at our March meeting, we've got you down already!) More details to follow.

  2. Lovely colorful presentations. I am planning a get together of all my friends at one of the affordable meeting space San Francisco in a couple of weeks. Will decide the menu according to tastes of all. Hope everyone joins us.
