Pincusion Swap

Hi Gang!

At our last formal meeting, we discussed our upcoming pincushion swap with the Oahu Modern Quilt Guild.  This blog post will provide an overview of all the details of the swap!  This should be fun!  I hope you're all "in" for it!

Here are the details:
  • Make a pincushion
  • No more than 5" across
  • Use modern fabrics
  • Stuff your pincushion with whatever you want (stuffing, crushed walnut shells...)
  • Bring your pincushion to our March 25, 2017 meeting.  (If you can't be there, send it with a friend.)
  • Attach a brief bio about yourself so whoever receives your pincushion can learn a little bit about you.  Things you might want to tell your partner:  How long have you been sewing?  How did you become a modern quilter?  Who are some of your favorite fabric designers?  Where did you grow up?  You could include a photo of yourself if you want.  You could include your email or Instagram handle, if you'd like.  Just some ideas!
  • The guild will take care of mailing all the pincushions to Oahu.  You'll get your pincushion at the next formal meeting (May 20) so we can do show and tell on the received pincushions.

 Some tips:
  • Check out our Pincushion Pinterest board for ideas!  There are some seriously cute pincushions over there!
  • Check out our Modern Fabric Pinterest board for inspiration on modern fabrics.
  • If you'd like to contribute pins to either of these boards but haven't been invited to do so yet, email Stephanie or Carolyn, and we'll get you added.
  • We just learned about Instagram, so post photos of your pincushion on your Instagram page and tag @greatlakesmodernquiltguild.
  • Post photos of your pincushions on our Facebook page!  (Everything's more fun when we share!)
  • Challenge yourself to try something new, if you want!

Caveat:
  • It is possible that the number of people who bring pincushions from each  guild may not match up.  If we collect more pincushions than Oahu does, you might get a pincushion from one of our own guild members.  But that's okay, because that's fun, too!
I hope you will participate!  The more who do, the more fun we will have.  Please play along!  Leave a comment if you plan to play along so we can have some idea of how many people are "in!"

Let me know if you have questions!
Stephanie
